Hookit or what? Insult or humour?

I saw this on the Crochet Crowd blog the other day and had a laugh.  Some people take themselves far too seriously ....  We like to be called Hookits when we meet (in a Church Hall) but have no qualms about being called the slightly ruder variation ...

Let me know what your thoughts are on being called a Hookit, a crocheter or other.

  1. Well if William Shatner was happy to leave Star Trek as Captain Kirk, and appear again on TV as TJ Hooker, then who am I to make a fuss? Some people DO take themselves far too seriously - just occasionally we ALL need to pass the slipped stitch over!
And furthermore, I cannot PRONOUNCE crocheter- is the 't' silent or not [must check with Mags, she is my go-to expert in matters of the French language] perhaps it should be 'crochetiste'?

  2. I like your sense of humour - this could start a whole new conversation about crocheters or crochetistes never mind hookits, hookettes or other similar v
    ersions of same!

  3. I prefer to think of myself as a Hookit, not so much because of the negative side of being called a Hooker, but more for the Tolkienesque qualities it brings. I feel this entitles us to have a second breakfast or bun/biscuit/cake (or all 3) at Hookery.
